Occasionally a customers truck is titled 1947 but the body design is actually 1946. Nomenclature and the Mercury trucks became M-1 M-2 M-3 etc.

. This patina-rich 1968 Mercury M-250 Pickup is from north of the Yankee border in Canada and its still wearing its Manitoba plates. Mercury trucks came about due to a quirk of the Canadian Ford dealership system due to the sparely populated areas of Canada. These trucks were really just Ford F-100s w.
Production of Mercury trucks ended altogether in 1968. M-Series vehicles were designated by their Gross Vehicle Weight Rating divided by 100. It has been said that fewer than 10 of this rare 1 Ton model are known to have survived.

I am the third owner of this classic truck. In 196768 the Ford radio blockoff plate and horn button were used with no other unique parts were installed with exception of the amber lower front fender reflectors on the 1968 Mercury truck to comply with federal legislation for that year. So for 1948 Mercury trucks donned the new Ford suit but the difference between the two brands was not quite so evident.

This would really be a head-turner at any car show or just at the gas station or hardware store. That changed in 1951 when Canadian trucks switched to the US. The M47 for example had a 4700-lb GVW.
The Meteor Monarch cars and Mercury trucks first appeared in April 1946 because of Ford of Canadas postwar marketing strategy. This vehicle was found in the early 1970s in Sussex New Brunswick Canada where it was rescued and then stored until the mid-1990s. It was repainted the original colors 21 years ago.
This truck is in great condition and ready to bedriven ltered od at or restored. More lower-priced cars were sold in Canada than in the United States because of the slightly lower standard of living not to mention whopping sales and excise taxes that added almost 20 percent to the sticker prices across the border. There are two reasons for this.

However the 1953 models along with the sister Mercury M-series trucks retained the flathead V8s. The first mercury trucks hit dealers in 1946 under the m series line. This can make ordering parts confusing.
